Julieta Gabiola, MD, FACP has a wealth of experience both in private practice and academic medicine. She is an exceptional internist who provides personalized, outcome-altering care to her patients.
Dr. Gabiola is a Clinical Professor of Medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine, where she holds the esteemed position of Chair of the Faculty Senate. She is a Faculty Fellow at the Stanford Center for Innovation in Global Health and has been a foundational faculty member of Educators for CARE, an initiative that fosters compassion, advocacy, responsibility, and empathy in medicine. For over a decade, she has taught the Practice of Medicine Course at Stanford, mentoring medical students throughout their journey.
Dr. Gabiola’s own journey to becoming a physician is truly inspiring. Originally from the Philippines, she arrived in the US at the age of 19 on a working visa as a nurse. While working full-time as an ICU nurse, she pursued her premedical education and eventually earned her medical degree at Rush University Medical School and completed her internal medicine residency at Stanford.
She is now a faculty fellow at the Stanford Center for Innovation in Global Health (CIGH), actively contributing to improving health outcomes on a global scale. Along the way, she founded the ABCs for Global Health, and continues to travel to the Philippines each year to further this work.
Dr. Gabiola’s outstanding contributions have not gone unnoticed, as she has been honored with dozens of awards. These include the Teaching Excellence Award and the Humanitarian Award from Stanford, the prestigious Scholastic Achievement Award from the American
Medical Women’s Association, the Humanitarian and Volunteerism Award from the American College of Physicians, and the Top 100 Most Influential Filipina Women in the World Award from the Filipina Women’s Network.
